Week beginning 29/10/18
In our dance and singing lessons we learn many key skills for the song Nothing like a Dame.
One of them was optimism. Most of the class had to learn how to be optimistic when learning the choreography and lyrics to this song as many of us did not take to this song, maybe this was because we were not familiar to the song, however I had the attitude that just because the song might be boring and out of my comfort zone, doesn't mean the performance has to be the same. Being optimistic allowed me to enjoy performing and rehearsing the song.
In our dance lesson we worked on a skill called coordination, this skill is essential for dancers when learning a new routine. Personally, I think I have a long way to go until I am able to match the standard I would like to have in the future, it wasn't an easy thing to learn, I struggled with this skill but hopefully practicing this skill will enable me to be more confident and make my dancing look more fluid and smooth.
In the first singing lesson with Sam on this new song, i learnt a key skill called persistence. Certain people very much struggled with the tenor and bass range of the song as they are not used to using the lower parts of their voice. It took a lot of time and patience for those people to understand how to sing bass and tenor range. As a singer who sings much more comfortably within a tenor and alto range this wasn't too much of a challenge, However I learnt some new tips into how to project my voice when singing low as it can be hard, such as, keeping a dropped jaw to make sure the air comes from the diaphragm therefore much more power and volume.
